Post War Career

After School, he went to Sandhurst and was commissioned into the Worcester Regiment in 1926. He transferred to the Royal Signals and served in the Indian Army until Partition in 1947. During WW2 he saw service on the North West Frontier and the North East border of India.

He continued to serve after the War and was in the Punjab Region at the time of Partition. He was one of a number of British Officers whose dedication to duty helped to minimise the slaugther and bloodshed amongst refugees. After independence, he was taken off the "active list" but was then employed in England as a retired officer.
