Post War Career
Served with the 4th/5th Battalion Suffolk Regt. and was part of the surrender in Singapore. He was in a Primary Unit of the Regiment attached to the 18th Division Headquarters where he carried out intelligence duties. He was captured on 15th February 1942 and was at Malal 1 Camp and then incarcerated in Thailand for the remainder of the war, working on the "Railway of Death".
He changed his name to "Betts" after the hostilities.
