He served in WW1 and WW2. He escaped through Dunkirk and was mentioned in despatches in 1944 during fighting in North Africa.
County Surgeon of Suffolk in 1951 and, in 1954, he was honoured with being made a Commissioner and in 1961 a Knight of the Venereable order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem.
