He served in the 67th Medium Regiment R.A. and 51 Field Regiment (The Westmoreland and Cumberland Yeomanry) in the Middle East. The Regiment served with the 7th Armoured Division (The Desert Rats) in November 1941 and in the Seige of Tobruk. On 23 Dec 1941 he was killed in action in the Western Desert in Libya.
