Post War Career

His battalion served in the Western Europe Campaign 1944/5 as part of Operation Overlord. The Battalion went to Belgium and the Netherlands and subsequently crossed the Rhine to Hamburg.Roy Aubertin was killed on 10/12/1944. According to the official War Diary prepared by Lt. Col.B. A. Pearson, at 8.00 am on 10/12/1944 "9 Pl A Coy leave present area by MT and proceed to Baarlo 8505 and carry out occupation of area 868061. "S" mines were located in area 12 Pl B Company causing one fatal casualty". As this was the only casualty in the Battalion reported on that date, there can be little doubt that it was Roy.
